World Photographic Cup / Awards
Canadian talent took center stage at the World Photographic Cup (WPC) Awards Ceremony in Quito, Ecuador, as three Canadian photographers, including Alexander Sviridov proudly represented Team Canada in person. With 6 Canadian finalists in the running this year, the excitement was electric as the world’s best photographers gathered to celebrate artistic excellence. Back home, the rest of WPC Team Canada came together virtually, united in spirit as they watched and cheered for their nation’s top photographic talents. Our Canadian photographers earned 1 Gold Medal and 5 Top 10 places! In the end, Canada secured an impressive 6th place ranking (out of 28 nations), continuing Canada’s legacy of excellence on the global stage.
“I’m incredibly happy to represent Team Canada and honoured to be recognized among the top 10 photographers in the world. This achievement inspires me to push my creativity even further, and I’m already looking forward to preparing for next year.”
2025 - 8th Place / Alexander Sviridov
Specializing in fine art photography, Alexander skillfully merges the aesthetics of classic artworks with surrealist concepts, resulting in one-of-a-kind photographic masterpieces. This image was inspired by the artist Giuseppe Arciboldo. In the “Elephant” artwork female forms gracefully merge to create the majestic white elephant. The models figures, both elegant and haunting, harmonize seamlessly to form the powerful yet delicate shape, bridging the boundary between humanity and nature. This piece blurs the lines between body and beast, reality and fantasy, inviting viewers to witness the profound beauty in unity and transformation.
