Bio
Steve’s Odyssey began shortly before his retirement. Educated in the sciences and with a 35-year career as a meteorologist, he took up photography and found that he enjoyed it. While he’s occasionally tempted by the Sirens of fine art photography, his journey always ends being with his Penelope, his true love: landscape photography. And while his home province of Alberta is home to the beautiful Rockies, guarded by Calypso who lures and traps many a landscape photographer, his passion lies in capturing the subtle beauty of the gently rolling prairies, both around his home in central Alberta and elsewhere.
“I’m one of the founding members of the f/x Photo Group that meets by Zoom every month to share and discuss images and to challenge one another. We’ve been on a mission to have some of our images selected for Team Canada, and this year, much to our surprise and delight, 4 members of our little group succeeded.”
2027 – Nature / Landscape
The Palouse area of eastern Washington State, with its verdant rolling hills, is a photographer’s paradise. This image was captured in 2016 and was originally processed in B&W using Silver Efex, I recently took another look at it and saw the beauty in its colours: the greens of the hills, the icy-blue misty valleys in the background, and the peach-coloured skies. A small amount of dodging and burning was all that was needed to draw out the story.
