Bio
Jenny Wong is cut from a line of refugees. Three generations of strong women that ran from China, to Vietnam, finally finding a home, in a culturally diverse Canada, where she was born and raised. Perhaps it has always been in her blood to never settle down, and to always seek out new places. Aside from her first language being English, she is also fluent in Cantonese. Having backpacked extensively around the world, she is well versed and adaptable in various cultural etiquettes.
Photography was never chosen, but rather something that happened organically. Starting out as a paperweight in her travel bag, to becoming the trusted companion that she shared all her experiences and stories with. She is passionate about conserving the diversity of scenes and wildlife in front of the camera as well as the advocating for equity and diversity behind the camera. Specializes adventure, travel, wildlife, and commercial photography as a Nikon ambassador, she is best known for her work in climate advocacy.
“Magic happens when the ideas of the mind are felt by the heart. In a sea of talent in Canada, I’m so honored to be selected to represent Canada in this year’s Photographic World Cup. As a female, Chinese Canadian I hope it inspires more diversity in the creative space — and grateful to see that represented in our team.”
