It’s an honour to have my image ‘Blue Cave’ place as a Canadian finalist in the 2020 Cup.
“Blue Cave” was taken on a second visit to the Athabasca Glacier in January 2016. My friend Mike Isaak (pictured) and I left Edmonton after work and drove five hours to reach the glacier by 1am. Snow squalls and a Moon setting behind the moraine added extraordinary atmosphere and about half-a-dozen headlamps were placed to illuminate the ice. Adding the human element illustrates how large the cave was.
