“It is an honour to be able to represent Canada again at the World Photographic Cup. There is a great photographic community in Canada and it is amazing to celebrate it as a team on the world stage”
This image was created while ski touring in the Purcell Mountains with my brother. It has great personal meaning to me as it connects me to both a beautiful landscape in my home country visited after years abroad and also to my brother whom I had missed spending time with after so long apart.
This was the second attempt to shoot these dunes in 3 days as I wanted hard dramatic light for this image. I hiked about 40 minutes from where I parked my Jeep after a several hour drive and set up laying down in the sand before sunset. I wanted to get a low angle to blend the leading lines of the ripple marks into the sweeping ridgelines and shadows of these dramatic dunes.
