Coming across this beautiful multi-tiered waterfall took my breath away! It was an overcast slightly misty day which just enhanced the gorgeous fall colors and I found myself being mesmerized by the cascades of the water. I had no room to use a tripod to get at the angle I wanted so ended up hand holding at 1/10th of a sec to create the softness & silkiness of the flow.

The image “Coalescent” (Coming All Together as One) was taken in the middle of September on the very last whale cruise of the year. I had been on many whale cruises before in BC but this day in the Icy Strait of Alaska was a day like no other. The lighting, the subject, and the scenery all came together at the same time to create this magical image. We were told they weren’t sure we would even see any whales but for a short period of time this fella kept us entertained.

This is an image that brings to me many memories, one being terrified in a 3-seater plane flying over Africa. I remember the pilot asking me if I wanted him to fly lower over the animals and I said NO, my eyes are closed anyways! After a few minutes though I started peeking out through my fingers & very quickly overcame my fear as I saw the beauty of what was below me. This image was the very first one I took once I got the camera up to my eyes.
