Bio
Amy Moedt is an award-winning photographer and the artist behind RedTree Photography, based in Alberta, Canada. Her work blends honest storytelling with bold, emotive portraiture. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and more than 13 years as a full-time professional photographer, Amy has built her career around the belief that the most powerful photographs do more than show us what a moment looked like; they make us feel what it was like to be there.
Named Alberta Wedding Photographer of the Year for 2026 by the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC), Amy has photographed hundreds of weddings, drawn to the beautiful tension between carefully crafted imagery and the unpredictable moments that make every story unique. Her approach combines a documentary eye for genuine emotion with an artistic instinct for light, composition, and the extraordinary possibilities of an ordinary moment.
Inspired by the people and landscapes of Alberta, Amy creates photographs that balance the authenticity of real life with the visual impact of fine art. She is drawn to the unscripted, fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed, as well as the opportunity to transform a vision into something tangible through thoughtful composition and creative use of light.
“I’ve always believed in pushing myself to grow as an artist and continually raise the bar for my work. Being selected to represent Canada on the world stage is an incredible honour and a reflection of the importance of challenging yourself, taking creative risks, and never settling for ordinary. I’m humbled to stand alongside such extraordinary talent and incredibly proud to be part of Team Canada.”
2027 – Wedding Open
The cake smash was quite the spectacle, with these two enthusiastically covering each other’s faces in cake. My favourite moment, though, came afterward, when they stood side by side in front of the mirror, making silly faces as they wiped it all away before heading back to the festivities. There’s something wonderfully playful about this image. It doesn’t show the chaos that came before, but somehow tells the whole story. A little glimpse of their personalities, their humour, and the fun they have together. The kind of wedding day moment that deserves a place among the memories they’ll laugh about for years to come.
