Bio
Jenny Wong is cut from a line of refugees. Three generations of strong women that ran from China, to Vietnam, finally finding a home, in a culturally diverse Canada, where she was born and raised. Perhaps it has always been in her blood to never settle down, and to always seek out new places. Aside from her first language being English, she is also fluent in Cantonese. Having backpacked extensively around the world, she is well versed and adaptable in various cultural etiquettes.
Photography was never chosen, but rather something that happened organically. Starting out as a paperweight in her travel bag, to becoming the trusted companion that she shared all her experiences and stories with. She is passionate about conserving the diversity of scenes and wildlife in front of the camera as well as the advocating for equity and diversity behind the camera. Specializes adventure, travel, wildlife, and commercial photography as a Nikon ambassador, she is best known for her work in climate advocacy.
“Magic happens when the ideas of the mind are felt by the heart. In a sea of talent in Canada, I’m so honored to be selected to represent Canada in this year’s Photographic World Cup. As a female, Chinese Canadian I hope it inspires more diversity in the creative space — and grateful to see that represented in our team.”
2024 – Nature / Landscape
There is an unpredictable nature about summiting for sunset and sunrise. Even more so when it has been drizzling all day in the Lofoten Islands, but with just that evening left to catch sunset atop Reinebringen we took the gamble and started up the 1566 steps in our gortex gear. To our surprise, this was one of the days when everything came together. Stormy clouds created muted purples and pinks in the sky, and the moisture on the scene saturated the colours of the autumn foliage. It may not be the typical warm alpine glow that one seeks out, but nonetheless the quiet feeling of Scandinavian autumn transcribes through the image.
