Bio
At the age of 13 Rosalind came upon the gallery of Yousuf Karsh while window-shopping in Toronto’s Yorkville neighborhood. She stared into the displays for a long time, admiring the exquisite portraiture. But being a distracted teenager, she forgot this would-be formative experience for four decades!
It was in 2019 with children grown that Rosalind took to her camera. In these few short years since, she has garnered degrees, awards and recognition all over the world for her dramatic portraits.
Today Rosalind operates a fine art portrait studio in West Hollywood, CA, where she mainly serves a celebrity clientele. She mentors other photographers, judges photographic competitions, and gives masterclasses throughout the United States…and hopefully Canada soon!
“I am delighted to be representing Canada this year because she is the country that formed me. I have a deep emotional connection to her vast landscapes. I miss the quotidian intermingling of diverse cultures of my hometown Toronto. My Canadian upbringing contributes a simplicity and groundedness to the glamorous and otherworldly Hollywood portraits I create. Canada is the home of my heart and I hope to honour her on the global stage.”
2024 – Portrait / Natural
My photographic journey began in earnest September of 2019 with a weekend workshop taught by Master Photographer Erich Caparas. The following week, my eldest son suffered a traumatic brain injury and lay in a coma for a month. As he began to recuperate and was finally airlifted home to Los Angeles, the whole world shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic. These circumstances delayed my first photo shoot nearly a year…but what a productive shoot it turned out to be! That single session yielded “Moonlight & Cherry Blossoms,” which represented the United States at WPC 2021, as well as this portrait “S-Curve” which has been selected for Team Canada in 2024! It means so much to me that Neferttiti (a model from the Caparas workshop) trusted this beginner photographer during those days of masks and high anxiety. I am grateful that I am able to repay her faith.
