Bio
Heather Fryer is an award-winning professional photographer and the creative artist behind VOH Photography in Edmonton, Alberta. A member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) since 2019, she earned her Craftsman of Photographic Arts (CPA) designation in 2026.
Heather loves the enchanting world of fantasy photography, creative portraiture, and photographic illustration. Inspired by old movies and cinematic storytelling, she uses dramatic lighting, vibrant colours, and digital artistry to bring imaginative worlds to life, often with a little mystery, wonder, and a touch of humour.
Actively involved with Images Alberta Camera Club, Heather leads a Portrait Special Interest Group, where she enjoys teaching, sharing her knowledge, and encouraging others to explore their creativity. She’s also part of the f/x Group, a close-knit circle of eight photographers who share ideas and inspiration. She’s especially proud that four members of the group were selected to represent Team Canada in 2027. For Heather, photography is about bringing dreams to life, telling stories without words, and having fun along the way.
“Being selected to represent Canada is a dream come true. To have something that started as a little idea in my imagination recognized on the world stage is an incredible feeling. And knowing I’ll be sharing this experience with fellow photographers and friends makes it even more special. I’m proud, excited, and so grateful to be part of Team Canada!”

Eye’s Da Bye
Inspired by the classic film Moby-Dick and the unforgettable Captain Ahab, I imagined a weathered old fisherman who dreams of being a great sea captain himself. With his scruffy beard, favourite jacket, captain’s hat, and pipe, he becomes Ahab in his own mind. But unlike Ahab, my fisherman has a mischievous sense of humour.
With his prized catch pressed against his face and one comically large eye staring back at you, he proudly delivers his terrible little joke: “Eye’s Da Bye!”
It’s my playful tribute to old movies, colourful characters, and the magic of storytelling.
