World Photographic Cup / Awards
The World Photographic Cup is a prestigious, Olympic-style event that celebrates the art of photography on a global stage. Canada joined photographers from 28 nations around the world to compete not only as individuals but as a cohesive team representing their country.
Photographers want to be top in the world, not just for personal glory but to hoist the Canadian flag. And that’s just what Rabih Madi did at the World Photographic Cup awards ceremony on April 25th in Reykjavik, Iceland where he earned 8th place for his stunning wedding image. Rabih was part of a talented group of Canadian photographers that travelled to Iceland to attend the WPC ceremony in person. Canadian cheers echoed through the auditorium, high-fives were exchanged, and flags flew in shared jubilation as Team Canada’s images received one Gold medal, one Bronze medal and five Top 10 honours. Every victory makes a collective triumph for WPC Team Canada, which placed 6th in this year’s World Photographic Cup competition.
“Every time I get to represent Canada at the WPC, I feel a wave of pride, excitement… and a tiny bit of imposter syndrome (because wow, Canada has talent). Being part of such an incredible team is always an honour – and fun.”
2026 8th Place / Rabih Madi
Rabih’s full-time gig involves wrangling two adorable kids and a big, fluffy dog, all while being a devoted husband to his wonderfully supportive wife—who deserves a medal for living with him! But let’s be real: what truly defines him is his epic love for tacos! On the side, he moonlights as a wedding storyteller, capturing the magic of one of the biggest days in people’s lives, because let’s face it, making people cry happy tears is just too much fun to pass up! Being part of someone’s special day? That’s his version of winning the lottery.
“I feel this image has an emotional tone to it —minimalist yet full of meaning—representing unity, and love across boundaries. The light in between them is the sun reflecting on the surface and it seems as when they will join hands, it will be in the light that is shining through.” Rabih said of his 8th place in the world image.
