Bio
Railene Hooper is a two-time Canadian Wedding Photographer of the Year based in Edmonton, Alberta. With over a decade of experience, she is known for creating timeless, emotional imagery that blends luxury artistry with authentic storytelling. Her work captures the kind of love and connection that is art that feels as genuine today as it will decades from now.
Railene’s signature style is warm, intentional, and deeply personal. She believes the best photographs come from real connection and trust, which she builds with every couple and person she photographs. Whether it’s an intimate mountain elopement, a grand celebration in the city, or capturing the growing lives of her couples, Railene approaches every story with care and heart.
When she’s not behind the camera, you’ll find Railene exploring the Canadian
mountain backcountry, sipping a cold one by a fire, or spending time with her family and friends. Her love for adventure and genuine human connection continues to inspire her and the photos she creates.
“There’s something unforgettable about standing with Canada’s best artists who inspire, challenge, and uplift one another. Representing our country together is a moment that fills me with pride and gratitude. Its’s a dream come true and a beautiful reminder that storytelling through imagery has no boundaries.”
2026 – Portrait Natural
Shooting in the Alberta Badlands always feels like stepping onto another planet. I brought my drone to capture the dramatic landscape from above, showcasing the striking colours and textures of the land. It was pure chaos flying with the gusts of wind and missing controller pieces, but somehow, it worked. The drone held steady just long enough to frame the couple perfectly against the winding hoodoos and shadows. The result? One of my favourite images to date. It’s bold, vibrant, and unlike anything I’ve seen done before in an engagement portrait!
2025 – Wedding Reportage
Couples that have fun are truly my vibe! This Bride and Groom had an energy that lit up every moment of their big day. Their enthusiasm was contagious and on the way to their reception the drink tickets really got them hyped with laughter and cheers filling the limo. The happy couple never stopped having a good time and their wedding was a PARTY!
2024 – Wedding Open
My favorite time to photograph a wedding couple is after all the stress of their big day. This shot is that exactly! The couple finished dinner early and snuck away to enjoy a fun moment together.
