“Making the team immediately filled me with honour. I knew Wishing for Wind was a quiet and contemplative photograph and so to have it be really seen by my colleagues was and still is an absolute career highlight”
2014 – Nature (Landscape and Wildlife)
I remember waking up early that July 1st morning, and seeing the clouds and the light from my living room window. I said to my family excitedly “I needed to go!” I gathered my camera, car keys and ran out the door…in my pyjamas! I drove around to a few look-out places I knew I could get a view of the bridge…but it wasn’t until I walked along the waterfront path that I knew I was getting close. I found myself leaning over a barrier between me and the lake and just needed a few more inches to get the perfect composition. I ducked through the barrier and managed to balance myself on the sketchy slope just inches from the lake to get the shot. I took about 10 photos in this series that morning…but there was only one where the boats were in perfect composition. I hope this photograph evokes the same sense of peace and calm it does for me.
