Bio
As a child Amanda used to sit for hours studying the behaviour of cats in a feral colony and help the Barn Swallows that had fallen from their nests. She also played around with her Mother’s camera but never became obsessed with photography until her twenties. Eventually Amanda’s love of animals led her to become a veterinary assistant and certainly having an understanding of domestic animal behaviour helps when photographing wildlife. Amanda holds a wildlife accreditation with the Professional Photographers of Canada. She currently volunteers with the Atlantic Wildlife Institute and picks up injured wildlife when needed. Amanda has an insatiable passion for wildlife and animals, and her days off revolve around photographing or helping them.
“I feel honoured to have a Top 10 image amongst all these other amazing world-class photographers. I still don’t believe it! ”

World Top 10, Best of Nation, Bronze Medal
During the summer, I was lucky enough to observe and fall in love with a colony of terns and this photo was a lucky shot taken while two terns fought over territory trying to protect their nesting sites.
